Strength and weight training are often synonymous with resistance training. However, resistance machine training refers specifically to isolating muscle groups through many exercises that are structured by the machine. The structure and muscle isolation are great for ensuring correct form, balance and body composition in comparison to free weight resistance training.
Resistance training builds endurance, muscle growth and physical strength. While helping gym-goers lose weight. It also maintains and boosts bone health, blood pressure and metabolism for healthy adults. A big benefit of resistance training is that it's perfect for older adults who start to experience age-related muscle loss. These exercises simulate everyday activities and make them easier to do. Other benefits include targeting body fat and toning throughout your weight loss journey.
Using resistance machines is an ideal introduction to weight training for beginners. The structure and one-way use of the machines create a safe way to train muscle groups with less risk of injury. The machines often ensure correct form, starting position and process of the exercise. Making the learning curve much less difficult. Having the option to gradually increase weights at your own pace makes it a lower-intensity exercise and more comfortable for a new user.
While resistance machines isolate muscle groups and allow for more structure of correct form and movement, free weight training offers less stability but works more muscle groups at once. Most experts would recommend a combination of both forms of strength exercises in a gym routine for the best results.

Foundation Yoga is one of four yoga classes available at Richmond Hill Health Club. Our centre is just a 10-minute walk from Richmond Station, and we have a car park open to members. This class is a great way to begin your yoga journey, designed to break down the essential elements of yoga step by step.
Exercises are performed standing, seated and lying down with emphasis on alignment and posterior lateral breathing whilst executing the moves. These will initially be performed with the instructor on a timed sequence to create the flow and then at your own pace under guidance.
These classes are fast-paced sessions where groups ride stationary bikes to the beat. They are led by an instructor who directs different speeds and altitudes to simulate tough climbs and adrenaline-fuelled sprints through terrain and route challenges.
